The bike training has been a bit slack over the last couple of weeks with the team in Chicago and Madison. But what a great trip. We had great fun and learnt a lot.
First a cultural tour of Chicago with (groan from some I’m sure) a look at the historical history of high rise, starting from the late 1800’s.k And what about the great Robi house from Frank Lloyd Wright. It looks as modern today as it did in the early 1900’s. Great lasting design. We managed to fit in a couple of dinners one at the Hancock centre with great views over the city and another at the Chicago chop house. A stop on the way to Madison for the shopoholics on the trip, all! at a big shopping centre in the middle of nowhere
Then to Sub-Zero and a fantastic welcome with great product training, breakfast, lunches and dinners at the Bakke Centre. We are always made to feel at home and the whole team learnt not only great product knowledge but also al about the culture of the company.
Took a side trip to visit the trek factory arranged by Sub-Zero. What great bikes.
Now after a bus trip back to Chicago sadly I dropped off the others on Friday to fly back to Aus. Caught up with mike Daish on friday night and talked cycling & stuff.
Then to Des Moines to stay with great friends Craig & Annik Ibsen & their 2 children Chloe & Adrian. A fantastic family weekend.
Met up with Anna in Buenos Aires. All my stuff arrived – a much travelled bike. Anna’s luggage delayed but finally turned up. She had her bike but nothing else. A couple of days taking in a tango show and a ham museum and a wonderful Gallary with a stack of impressionist paintings. Plus the graveyard with huge mausoleums
To bike dreams. We arrive in Mendoza today. Census day so no one around. 2 taxis from the airport with much travelled cardboard boxes all in one piece. Camp site locked and finally opened to find a dutch fire truck with the forward team there. All good. No riding yet. Put bikes together & all ok. Rest day tomorrow. Big dinner this evening with copious beers & wine – this is the area. They are a mad lot most having ridden 7000 odd k’s already. Could be fun but some serious young riders here.
Tent up and to bed as 12.30.
