This blog is in reality about a third life career and the carry over of all previously learnt into it. It’s also about life balance and the place of adventure, exercise, family friends, community work and business within that life. The credo, I try not to look back and say I should have done that.
The third career started with an adventure, whilst walking the Kokoda track in Papua New Guinea with my daughter and step daughter. That was when I waNs approached to distribute Sub-Zero & Wolf ( the best domestic refrigeration, wine preservation and cooking products in the world ). What better way to start an adventure in business but on an adventure.
Setting up the new business, exciting and challenging. Helped by old business friends and connections in Australia and great support from our new suppliers and partners. It keeps the brain going and the opportunity of establishing something for Anna and Morgan my two children.
Adventures are a great part of life. Getting out of the comfort zone. Back to basics. The Himalayas at 40, Kimberly at 50, Inca trail, Galapagos islands, Mount Kinabalu, the Serengetti, mount Kilimanjaro, Tikal & Chichen-Itza. All great sights and difficult to get to.
Rowing and bike riding are a part of my life that keep me fit and provide the competition to succeed and connection with young people that is important.
To the ultimate bike adventure a part in the ride from Quitto to Ushuia 11,000 k in total of which I took a part from Mendoza to El Calafate, 3165 in total.
What other adventures are in store whilst I have the strength and energy. To walk or travel with grandchildren would be a great goal.
